My most interesting lecture today was my GS 208 lecture which was a debate. The topic of the debate was 'Niger No Dey Carry Last' of course we had the proposing and opposing team and the first point was from the proposing team and it was quite interesting. the lady who spoke said and i quote her " with the limited job opportunities we have here in Nigeria, we still have millions of students who apply for admission into various tertiary institutions across the country so that they can acquire the knowledge they need for self employment" and the second point came from the opposing team and it was also interesting. the lady who spoke said and i quote her "Nigeria is blessed with a lot of mineral resources most especially crude oil but yet we export this oil so it can be refined and import it back to the country, paying huge amount of money for it and most times we suffer from fuel scarcity and you tell me niger no dey carry last". Actually both points are good but i want to hear your views c'mon guys what do you think?
ifeoma.ihunyere.200357@unn.edu.ng I took a walk to Fidelity bank today and i noticed the progress made in the renovation of Okeke hostel. This hostel that was almost burnt to the ground on a cold evening in December 2015 was seen as one of the best hostels in UNN because it had sufficient water supply and rarely had electricity issues. The fire outbreak led to the loss of properties of many occupants and fortunately no loss of life. the students affairs department did a good job in re-allocating those affected new hostels and passing by the once great hostel today, it dawned on me that the school authorities are making great efforts in restoring Okeke hostel to its former glory.
